That must have been really irritating.  Without you even saying that you can tell all the whooping is staged.  Like me, you dont seem like a whooping person and even if you are, noone is in a good mood all the time so would have been annoying being told to force it.  Its like going to a footie game and being given an anthem 'hymn sheet'!

But you do have got a fantastic reminder of a 10 week holiday with ready made dramatic music so you wont have to add any of your own!  Wink

What you seem to be completely forgetting is that the edit can change a lot of things.

That conversation we had with Danny around the fireplace went on for over 40 minutes, it wasn't 30 seconds and then I was calling him selfless, he told us all a lot more than what you see on camera.

You don't see when at the beach party I was pulled to one side and told to go see Jack and tell him that we'd all missed him etc.
You also don't see when production ask me during dinner to say "have you enjoyed having X here".

If I genuinely respected and wanted whoever to be on the island, what's the problem with telling them that, yes it's being portrayed in a slightly sychophantic manner but that's not how it was intended to be.
There's probably 50 hours of footage per week, per island filmed and that's cut into 20 mins each.
Neither do you see how certain Sharks will kiss the arse of new arrivals and if they choose Tigers they've turned round afterwards and said "It's fine, we didn't want them on our island anyway".

Just remember, there's a whole lot more going on behind the scenes and off camera...

Fair do's. I wasnt being overly serious in my critiscm of how you handled Kevin and Danny (hence the wink and the smile).

I am not completely forgetting anything thank you. I (and I guess most of the audience) are well aware how "reality" television works. Of course every last one of you are at the mercy of editors. But that's the game that you entered, surley you knew that would be the case.

While I understand that it must be hard if you feel like you are being shown in an unfair or unsmpthetic light. It is the "story" as it is shown, however it may be edited, that I follow and enjoy. It will continue to be. If I did it any other way then it would ruin my enjoyment of the show by imaging all the things that contestants may or may not have been told to do or say.

Can I just clear one thing up, because I dont want to missunderstand your meaning. Are you saying that all the things mentioned which you have been seen to say or do which show you in a less than positive light, you only did because you were instructed to do so?

Not at all, some things I've said and done off my own back, usually when it's a one on one interview the production will ask you a question and then ask you to put the question in your answer, so for example if I said something like "I feel really bad about what X did today etc etc" I was probably asked 'How do you feel about what X did today?'
So you should be able to discern what I've been asked to pretty much say and what I'm saying from my own personal thoughts.

But don't get me wrong, I was a twat with Kevin and Bene, I hold my hands up to that one, that's why I took them to one side and apologised, I also apologised off camera but of course production don't like it when you say or do something when they're not there.

Hey Liam really appriciate you clearing all these things up, Is shipwrecked anything like you expected it to be, just seems too mapped out for my liking.
I've never seen Shipwrecked before so never had pre-conceptions about what it may or may not be like but it was an amazing experience, all I can really say is, it's so bizarre how quickly you bond with someone.. Without being in the same sort of scenario you can't really explain how quickly you will have deep bonds with people.
imagine being trapped with someone in a lift for 24 hours, at the end of that you'd probably have a much stronger bond with that person than with some of the friends you already have.

Thank you for clearing that up Smiley I get what you were saying now.

We agree on one thing at least you were a bit of twat to Bene and Kevin Tongue  Smiley
but you were man enough to appologise, you desserve plenty of respect for that.
I know I dont find it all that easy to appologise when I know I am in the wrong (but it has to be done)

lol, I've noticed all the 'whooping' aswell. My dad was in the room when I was watching once and he said 'I wish they'd shut up with all the whoop whoops' haha.

LOL! it's true, it just looks lame. the producers should be fired!

so is it kind of offputting/intrusive when youre having a genuine conversation or like when you had your mini breakdown and the cameras are right in your face... did you ever have to tell them to just piss off?
its weird i imagine when your enjoying it being there on a beautiful island etc must be incredible but when ur not happy having all the cameras and pressure must make it even worse.

Exactly, when I had my 'mini breakdown' I was actually fine to start off with then it kicked in and I had to walk away, the crew came and said I had to finish what I was saying even though I had a few tears in my eyes.
Kinda gash like you said, having the cameras in your face through the good and through the bad but that was Shipwrecked, can guarantee the actual experience is a million times more satisfying than what you guys see on TV. But, the only people who know that are the ones who've been through the experience.

And big respect to you for going through it mate, I've said before here, none of us could imagine what its like being torn away from home, not knowing what's coming up, meeting a bunch of strangers all fighting for the limelight/attention - I'm not surprised you had a mini breakdown.

Not having a KFC on the island would be enough for me!!

Also, thank you to you and the couple other Shipwreckers for actually chatting to our members, shows that you're personable and not letting the fame go to your head! It would be nice of some of the other Shipwreckers registered here would chat a little more, respond to comments etc.

ITA I especially appreciate Liam being so polite with a poster such as myself who was having a bit of a dig at him (though it was all in good nature). Top bloke Smiley

Yeah it would be nice if some of the other shipwreckers would respond. There seems to be very little coming from Sonny, Tom, Markus, Jack etc. I don't think fame has gone to their head though they probably just don't care as much as some of the others about what people think.

As for Liam, he's blaming a lot of his bad points on the producers which seems a bit lame. The thing is I like Liam although he takes himself very seriously and seems to come out with some ridiculous comments I don't think there is any need for him to defend himself like that. I definitely don't find him fake though I just think he is that type of person that feels a need to have the 'final say' on certain matters and says something a bit over-dramatic. Oh well there are worse things in life

I do like Liam i just think he is a bit sensitive and very deep Cant blame him for been annoyed when Kevin chose not to go over to tigers ,ok he slightly overreacted but at least he apologised unlike Kevin himself who not only disregarded the tigers but also Bene by been such a prat but no way do i think Liam's a fake ,if he was surely he'd have put on a big act if anything what you see with Liam is what you get  TIGERS ALL THE WAY

I doubt it to be honest - as a reality show contestant your fame is shortlived, particularly as Shipwrecked isn't a prime-time show.

The more these guys can do to build up a public representation, the better!! Those not on here clearly don't appreciate the opportunity they're missing out on to generate public awareness of who they are, once the show finishes, they'll vanish!
