I dont see anything wrong with the Shipwreckers comming up with an idea themselves and the production helping to facilitate it. Shipwrecked isnt and never has been about dumping them on an island and leaving them to fend for themselves with out any help from the production team. If so they wouldnt have rations, building materials, coconut soap, pigs and hens.
I have alway taken it for granted.
I agree. I don't mind the production team helping out the Shipwreckers, as long as the idea came from Lois and Maz in the first place. Why shouldn't they give them lanterns to help create a romantic setting. It works for them for two reasons, it helps Lois and Maz do something sweet for their friends, ie try o bring them together, plus it makes good tv for the producers to use, the only gay guys on the Island in a will they, won't they get together scenario.
As you say Shipwrecked's never been about just dumping a group of people on an Island and leaving them stranded there. They need a little help with food etc, so why not help them when they want to do something nice for each other.
