nadejah`s "journey"

Was it just me, or, did the whole concept of "nadejah`s Journey" make anyone else laugh out loud?
Someone should tell her that if you travel anywhere far enough in a straight line, you end up right back where you started out.
She travelled thousands of miles, and spent 10 weeks, on a voyage of discovery and wonder that very few people alive will ever get to experience... and from day 1, she did so with a sideways sneer and an unpleasant grimace at anything and anyone she didn`t like.
Watching the final episode, and seeing Greg`s moment of triumph, I saw the exact same grimace and sneer writ large on her face.
To think, the Tigers actually considered her as a candidate for the main prize??
Well, that speaks volumes!

I agree in essence with some of the things you say, Whilst the show was on I'll agree i found her rude, annoying and obnoxious, That said the show was heavily edited this year and alot of the editing was aimed to show Nadejah in a negative light.
I'm not saying she should have won the prize far from it based on what i saw but alot of things go on off camera, That may have influenced the Tigers into voting for her.
Greg was made out to be a fantastic wrecker by the production this couldnt have anything to do with the fact he won. From what i've read on here alot of people considered him a fake.
Im not defending Nadejah in anyway just trying to point out reasons as to perhaps why her name was thrown into the hat.

Having done some paid writing, worked a little on scripting and editing, and studied in the field extensively, I can appreciate that editing can be manipulated to create a general feeling in the viewer that may otherwise have not been so profound...
but...
it would take some kind of Peter Jackson-esque CGI to fake a group scene of people celebrating and have just one or two faces looking like someone just stole their wallet AND killed their pet kitten .
This young lady (and I do use the term in the loosest context) wore the most magnificent of facial contortions at the most inappropriate moments. People can fake smiles when unhappy, but few people with any sense wear such grim and downright ugly faces during celebrations.
As for Greg being a fake?
Well, i dont know the guy... but year on year Ive been pretty adept at spotting the one`s who, when the series is over, seems to still command the respect of the others.
Ah well, its all just opinions, and as we all know, opinions are like Bumholes...most of them stink! hehe
And some people wear them on their face , eh Nadejah?

We've covered this before but you can't show someone in a negative light unless they are negative - you couldn't ever use editing to make me appear violent, because I don't get violent - same case here - you can't show what hasn't happened!!

I can see where both are you are coming from i really can but if what your saying Ash is that you can only show some one in a negative light unless there negative.
You wouldnt vote form some one like nadejah on that basis but the tigers did throw her in hat why is that things happen off camera we dont see that was the point i was trying to make

I do know what you mean Alex...
In effect you`re saying that viewers can be manipulated by the editing crew concentrating on showing ONLY the negatives, and few if any, of the positives?
This does happen a lot in TV.
But, Ash is right... if it waddles, quacks , and leaves green poop at the side of a duck pond, its more than likely a duck, and not a fox.
How people conduct themselves in extreme situations is usually where you see true colours.
Extremes being arguments, low points, or celebrations and excitement.
You can edit all you like, but when 27 people are cheering another`s good fortune and whooping with Joy, it was pretty easy to spot the one or two faces who registered negative emotions.
mark looked pig sick and shocked..Nadejah looked like she wished she had a knife.
All the editing in the world cant manufacture raw human emotions like that.

I loved her littly bitchy comments to the camera over Maz crying in last episode. I do wonder what made so many tigers suggest her for a winner (cynically I can't help wonder if they just wanted to piss off all the sharks!) but maybe there was a lot more to her that just never got shown because the producers wanted her to look like a villain. As you say, they didn't manufacture her bad behaviour, but maybe she had softer kinder moments which we never saw :S

More good points Phoenix... but ask yourself this
If the point of editing in a reality show is to whip the viewership up into a righteous frenzy of like or dislike, if there had been softer kinder moments in Nadejah`s journey, what a showstopper that would have been to completely "Play" the audience?
I know if I`d have been in possession of such footage, I`d have had great fun manipulating the viewers in and out of their comfy "boo..Hiss" mode.
A bit like they did with Andrew.
he was edited to often look like an arrogant and patronising figure worthy only of disdain... yet they neatly managed to offset that with a number of sequences of humility and vulnerability... as well as his fun side.
I dont know... I just cant see much positive in this young lady.
I did try, and I kept hoping as the weeks rolled by that she would emerge from her stereotype.
But the final episode just about finished off my opinion.
And just to address the often mentioned fact that she was considered as a front runner by some of the Tigers, I do believe one or more of them said quite clearly during that discussion that she was a major factor in all the "down" periods on Sharks.

Just wanted to post an update to this thread:
I only joined here yesterday after having watched and enjoyed every season of Shipwrecked since its inception, and as such, I jumped straight in without having read previous threads.
I have just finished reading the shockingly hilarious contributions by Nadejah Williams herself in an older thread.
That thread negates this one completely.
That young woman, despite the protestations from some of her fellow shipwreckers, shows herself in a far more blinding spotlight than anything we as the viewers could post as a "biased" opinion.
As such, i`d like to do something unusual... I`d like to post a genuine "thank you" to nadejah.
Thank you, for proving categorically, that from Episode 1 until last Sunday`s great Finale, that I had you sussed from the moment you opened your surly fat mouth and displayed your ignorance and ill mannered attitude.
Thank you, for committing to virtual pen and paper, and leaving an indeilible mark on this web forum, to illustrate for years to come, that anyone who happened to suffer a momentary doubt about being unfair, that they were NOT being unfair on judging you poorly because of bad editing or manipulation by the T4 crew.
Thank you, finally, for showing yourself up to be the brattish, arrogant, lazy, greedy, mean spirited, devious and manipulative slob, that you actually are.
Thanks lovely one.
I wish you the very best of luck in your life.... because..by the look of it, youre going to need the luck of the gods to make anything of yourself in life.
Your Journey.... is OVER!

Actually Alex, I have to disagree with you there.
Never in my life have I seen a more despicable human being grace a reality TV show than Charley Uchea from Big Brother.
That.... "thing" .... plunged depths previously only occupied by mass murderers and Tabloid Journalists.

After the Charley BB series, I banned it from any TV in my house.
I personally stopped watching BB the year of the cow, I think her name was "lez-leh"?
My wife continued to watch, as did my teen daughters, but i drew the line at Charleygate, and met ZERO resistance from my wife and daughters.
So, I have NO idea who Alexandra is... and if you reckon she merits adding to the list of hate-figures that include Charley Uchea and nadejah Williams, I`m really glad I have no idea who she is...lol
